This project is a new 76,000 square foot 4-story 300 bed student residence building. The building wings flank a hexagonal 1-story common lounge building located in the center. The project is located on the downhill side of a mountainous area with heavy rock formation. The project included a resident directors apartment, meeting rooms, laundry room, a convenience store and state-of-the-art telecommunication capabilities.
After a comprehensive value engineering investigation, Cambridge recommended that the building be relocated and reconfigured to follow the existing rock contours. This modification minimized blasting and rock removal, resulting in considerable cost savings to the University, a more manageable schedule for the contractor, and successful completion for student occupancy in the fall semester.
Cambridge provided full construction management services including preconstruction, construction and closeout.
